You know that annoying hefty dude that used to be a VJ for MTV2? The one that used to go “Metaaaaaaal” in a high-pitched voice? Yes…. The sheer heaviness of America’s new favorite Metal band, 5 Finger Death Punch, makes you want to throw your devil horns in the air, and do just that. “Metaaaaaal!”
5FDP’s album “The Way Of The Fist” has been steadily climbing Billboard’s Heatseeker Chart, and their video for “The Bleeding” (posted below) has been in heavy rotation on the likes of MTV2. (I know…. I stayed up until 1 in the morning to catch “Head-banger’s Ball.”)
Roaringly heavy, and infectiously catchy, “The Way Of The Fist” is a must-have if you’re into what we call Nu-Nu-Metal (Killswitch Engage, Amon Amarth, Shadows Fall, etc.)
We caught up with Matt Snell of Five finger Death Punch for a candid tell-all interview.
CWG: How's the tour with Disturbed going?
Amazing! They are really good people and the shows have all been sold out.
CWG: The Firm's new record label has had the industry buzzing for the last few years. What's it like to be signed to Firm Records?
It’s kinda like having your cake and eating it too! They have an amazing amount of resources and the best heads in the industry in my opinion.
CWG: Are there any cool perks about having a management company as your label?
Absolutely.... They manage all aspects of the entertainment industry and with all of that comes so much real life experience that the decision making process is almost flawless.
CWG: How did you guys hook up with Mike Sarkisyan of Spineshank in making "The Way of the Fist?"
Mikey’s a local L.A. Cat. Ivan and him go back a ways. We had some more work to do on The Way of the Fist and he was available, so we did some of the tracking at his studio in North Hollywood.
CWG: How did you come up with the concept for "The Bleeding" music video? Is there a story behind the video?
That was basically a brainstorm between Ivan and Zoltan. As it came closer we all added a bit to it…I.E. different shots, ideas for scenes, but Ivan and Zo just started rambling ideas and we were all in 100%.
CWG: You guys are a metal band (excuse me for being captain obvious). Metal bands have the best road stories (once again… obvious) Tell our readers your absolute best road story!
If I told you that, some of us might and up in jail! LOL.....
