Interview By: Isabel Perez

IP: How are you? So what’s some history of LWL?

LANDON: "Tired, we got stuck in some crazy traffic, it was supposed to be a 4-hour drive, it took us like 6 or 7 hours something like that… Oh well, I guess that’s the way it rolls right? Yup, We are all from Vancouver, myself Shayne and Loren our drummer grew up in Alberta the next province over, then we all 3 moved to Vancouver where matt & chase were in a different band.

We all just randomly moved into a house together and we had an extra room to practice in so we just started making some songs for fun, and we ended up playing with our friend’s band Daggermouth, they offered us our first show and first tour."

IP: I read that Dude Manor is your house?

LANDON: Yeah and that's the name of our E.P., there were always parties and stuff going on in that house because they're was so many people living there, there was like 8 of us in there. I think it just became known as dude manor house because there was always some ridiculous party going on no matter what day of the week it was, but yeah it was pretty fun it’s cool to look back on it, but I don’t know if I want to live like that again, it was pretty insane. That all happened in like five months."

IP: What would you listen to at these parties? What do you listen to now?

LANDON: We still all listen to a lot of our favorite CD's that we liked when we were all 14, 15, and 16 like Blink 182, Saves the Day, Face to Face, and all those good old punk rock records...its good stuff.

IP: How's this tour going so far? How do you like California?

LANDON: It’s awesome! It’s awesome to tour down here. It’s really cheap, it’s not as far to drive, and gas is cheaper, food is cheaper, it's way cheaper, alcohol is cheaper here; it’s like $10.50 for a pack of camels back home. Yeah it’s because of our government taxes on alcohol and tobacco, but then I guess it’s the price you pay for the healthcare and stuff so I guess you can’t complain too much.

IP: Do you tour here frequently?

LANDON: We've been down here quite a few times now, like our very first time we came down with Broadway Calls and a band called Set It Straight, and that was about 2 years ago. Then we came down about 3 to 4 times after that, then it just kind of got sketchy because we didn't have visas or anything and we were sneaking over.

There was a website that had like a fake recording contract template that we can just print off and fill in for whatever we needed because you can come down to record but you can't come down to tour because your making money, right? Even though we're not making money you know what I mean? We’re just a small band touring around, it's like… I’m not a millionaire dude, but now we got some visas so its way easier now.

IP: Awesome! So how does working with two labels working out? You just signed with a new label right?

LANDON: Yeah our label in Canada licensed us up to Adeline records down here. They're in Encinitas I think, yeah they’re cool dudes. Our new record’s going to come out on the 21st of July and we have our E.P.’s out now and 10 inch as well, you can get that at our shows.

Then our next trip down is with Will Help You Scream in October, I believe. So, we'll be down in a couple months and our ending spot is the Fest. I think we are going to start writing some songs for our second full length record so that should be awesome.

IP: When would can we expect some new music?

LANDON: Well... depending if we do a full length or not, hopefully like the spring time or early summer of next year, so we can hit the road and have a holiday again. It's cool coming down here in the summer time, it’s like a vacation. It's rad, but sometimes a little too hot for my Canadian butt, Ha-ha but it’s so cool. I like it, it’s awesome here.
